Opening existing presentations in Connections Docs

After you upload IBM® Lotus® Symphony® presentations or other presentation file types to your files list, you can import them so that you and others can work with them in web browsers.

About this task

Supported formats include .odp, .otp, .ppt, .pptx, .pot, and .potx. To import an existing presentation, perform the following steps:

  1. Upload a file to the Files application.
  2. Click My Files.
  3. Find the file that you want to open in IBM Connections Docs, and click the file name to go to the file details page.
  4. Click Edit to open the file in Connections Docs .
  5. If the presentation is a template file with the format of .pot, .potx, or .otp, click Create File. A New from File window opens. Type a file name and then click Create. The template file is imported to Connections Docs and a new presentation that is based on the template file is created at the same time.
  6. Optional: If you want to return to the files list, clickopen files list button on the toolbar.

If you are using IBM Content Navigator:

  1. Find the file that you want to open in Connections Docs .
  2. Right-click the file and select Edit in Docs.

Note: Occasionally, certain formatting from uploaded files does not display precisely in Connections Docs, yet is preserved in the file. In these cases, once a version is published, you can download the file back to its original format.
